The expansion joint is meant to provide flexibility between two portions of the structure. The gap generally is around 25 mm and 50 mm. Sometimes it can be as high as 200 mm. In order to make this joint flexible we need to use only flexible material.
The gap after cleaning and removing all loose material is filled with thermal pool sheets, Pasto cement, and canvas strips.
The flexible material is poured to a depth of 30mm to 50mm. After applying canvas strips, five to seven coats of “Super mega coating” are applied.
